Twist me is a captivity story with a good dose of BDSM/erotica and suspense/thriller traits. It was well written and well thought out. Although I wouldn't classify it as dark, does not mean it isn't, just means I don't think it is.

The story begins with Nora, who, with her friend Leah, wanted to have a girl’s night out. So they went to a club where Nora attracted the undivided attention of a very dangerous man---Julian Esguerra.  Nora was unaware of his intentions but her gut told her - he was a dangerous man. So, she does the only thing she could do is run.

"He just touches me. Like he has the right to do so. Like I belong to him - something deep inside me senses that he could've easily gone further, that he doesn't play by the normal rules. That he's probably the most dangerous creature I've ever met."

After that Nora saw him at her graduation ceremony. But she shrugged off the thought of him stalking her. She thought it was purely a coincidence that he was there, maybe for a little sibling.

Nora has college plans but she wanted to try at least once to attract Jack’s (high school quarterback) attention before college starts. She had a crush on Jack for a very long time. At her graduation party she finally attracted his attention. She was going on a date with him.

Nora was oblivious with the fact that her fate was already written and her life belongs to someone else, someone with dark blue eyes and even darker soul.

On her date night Nora was abducted. The next time she woke up she was lying on a bed naked, on a private island in the middle of Pacific Ocean.

She soon discovered that she was kidnapped by Julian. There was a reason behind why she was at the island. What?

Soon Julian cleared his intentions for Nora. He told her that he is never letting her go. Her fate had bound them together for eternity. And if she tries to run away or harm him, Beth or herself, he will kill Jack and it will be her fault.

Nora was a pragmatic girl. She knew this man was dangerous. If he could go to this length to abduct her and keep her captive on a private island in the middle of nowhere, which he owns, he could do anything and killing Jack would be a piece of cake for him. So she complied. But Nora knew she couldn’t stay with this strangely volatile man forever.

One day when Julian was out on a business trip Nora devised a plan to escape. the plan was simple; she would hold Beth hostage and then demand for access to communicate with police or a means to go back to the mainland. But she underestimated her opponent and Beth overpowered her easily and Nora was left with only one choice: run.

When she ran far enough she examined her wounds and she was utterly tired. The next morning she returned to the house in hopes to subdue Beth in her sleep and demand escape. She was both surprised and horrified to find Julian instead. He was furious with her little STUNT and wanted to teach her actions have consequences.

As he already told her if she tries TO ESCAPE HIM, the price Jack will pay. He made her watch his goons beating Jack savagely. Nora begged Julian to stop them. She will do anything and never try to run away from him, but he was relentless. Nora was unconscious by the time he ordered them to stop.

 Nora was terrified by the blatant display of violence. She was numb and gave up the hope to escape. She submitted and complied with Julian demands. She gets accustomed to her new reality.

In this way one year passed---

On her birthday, Nora was very upset and couldn’t control her emotions. She was angry because instead of being sad she enjoyed her captivity. She developed feelings for the man who took her away from her parents.

She’s not scared of him but loves him.

The book ended with a huge suspense…

Pop! Pop! The explosive sound of a car backfiring jerks me out of sound sleep. My heart hammering, I jackknife up to a sitting position, then clutch at the stitches in my side with a hiss of pain.

Pop! Pop! Pop! The sound continues, and I freeze. No car backfires like that.

I’m hearing gunshots. Gunshots and occasional screams.

I stare at it, sick with fear for Julian. There is another burst of gunfire, accompanied by flashes of bright light. The gunfight is still going on—which is a good sign, I tell myself. If Julian was dead—if the terrorists had won—there would be no more shooting. He must’ve come with reinforcements after all.
